Hi everyone. Well I survived the second week and I am so excited to be dancing again! I know most of you saw my struggles last week with the Paso Doble but I did it and felt good with our performance. After having only 3 days of rehearsal before going live, I am relieved that we got the 21 and live to see another week. I love being around such wonderful people, I am truly having the time of my life, and I can’t wait to see my husband this week!! The dance that Maks and I will be performing this week is the Jive. It is very fast paced and involves some skipping/jumping, which I hope I can conquer. My goals for this week are to relax and to transfer the emotions that I am feeling into my face. This should be a fun one…..but let me tell you that the Jive should be used by athletes for cardio and plyometrics. You will see why. On another note, it is always sad to see someone leave each week. Kim you will be missed!!!! Keep voting and cheering us on. Thanks everyone!

Hi again. I’m Lily the one who asked you to come to my brother’s after surgery party on Saturday. Seriously, you’re still invited. I also wanted to say that I play volleyball and I am a big fan of yours. I also love DWTS.

Misty,
I am big fan! I have watched you play volleyball with Kerri for years and love watching you guys win! I am also a big DWTS fan and have loved watching you dance. I am bummed you can’t continue! You were in the Top 3!! I am also an athlete and know this is a painful injury! I am praying and think ing of you with the surgery today! Keep Believing and Have Faith! Patty :)
Bridget | on 7/10/08
Misty – I had to let you know how sad my 3 year-old son, Jack, was last night when he learned of your injury and that he wouldn’t be able to see you dance on DWTS any longer. He’s a HUGE fan since the Beijing Olympics – I had to DVR your matches so he could watch them the next day after pre-school. He was rooting for you each week and I’m sure will be asking about you everytime we watch the rest of this season.
Our best to you for your surgery and your ongoing recovery. You and Maksim will be missed!!
Smish | on 7/10/08
You helped me recover from my second Achilles surgery when I got to watch you win us the gold in the Olympics (my surgery was at the end of July). I am an athlete myself. I know what you are going through. The Achilles Tendon Rupture Club is a tight group. Bummer to be in it but the support helps. Please find others who have had this injury. I have had numerous other sports injuries but this one is VERY humbling and unique and it is good to talk with others who are right there with you. Hang in there!
barbara | on 7/10/08
I ruptured my achilles tendon two years ago, walking down the stairs! You were the first person that explained the feeling and the suprising NOISE that I, too, had experienced! I actually turned around to see who or what had hit me in the back of my leg. The noise was shocking!! I had the suregery, casted three times, unable to drive (rt foot) for about 5 months. After rehab… I’m good as new! Good luck to you during your recovery!!!
Crystal Heflin | on 7/10/08
Hi! Misty,
I wish you good luck and fast healing on your surgery. Our prayers are with you. My husband is having pretty much the same surgery on Wed. His is torn and I see the pain he is in. So my heart goes out to you.Crystal
Sarah | on 7/10/08
I am also a big fan of your volleyball playing and I never actually watched dancing with the stars until this season and only have because I found out that you were going to be on the show. I hope your surgery and recovery goes well, you’ll be missed on the show but it would be really awsome for you to come back, after you recover, and do the Jive. I know that myself and many other fans would like to see it.
Jennifer | on 7/10/08
Misty I am so sorry about your injury. I have heard that is one of the most painful things that can happen to an athlete. I enjoyed watching you and Kerri take Manhattan, and look forward to seeing you on the sand again in the future (although I would have loved to see you sweep DWTS, too!). Take care of yourself – I know you’ll get the best medical attention possible. — Jennifer (1996 MA, Long Beach State)
Kim | on 7/10/08
Misty – Your many friends at Special Olympics Southern California are sorry to hear about your injury and send big get well wishes for a speedy and full recovery. You’ve handled everything with such a great spirit and grace — the show is truly losing one of its best people. Good luck with today’s surgery. Kim
Gina Benoit | on 7/10/08
Good luck with your surgery. Your fans here in CT have you in our thoughts and prayers.
I’ve followed the AVP since 1991 and seen you play in Belmar and Las Vegas. There’s a group of us from CT that has been to both locations many times. I’d never seen Dancing before, but had to watch with you on. You are such a competitor and did so well that maybe after you recover, you can try again.
Kara | on 7/10/08
Misty, I agree with everyones comments. You are AWESOME! I am so sorry that you are injured, but know that us Maniacs are always rooting for you and we wish you a quick recovery. Hopefully you will keep dancing as well as playing V-ball since you totally rock at both. Maybe it is good to have some down time, once in a while, but I am sure that you wish it was under different circumstances. Hang in there… you will rock once again!
Chrissy | on 7/10/08
Misty, you’re in my thoughts and prayers as you go through surgery and recovery with this injury. I know it seems hard now and trust me, it’ll get worse, but you’ll be back on your feet soon. I ruptured my Achilles doing gymnastics a year and a half ago. It’s a long road, but you will play volleyball again. Give it time, keep your chin up, and know that so many people are thinking of you and wishing you well!
Dan Lynch | on 7/10/08

DTWS will not be the same without you. You are the reason I watched the show. Now, I am rooting for your complete and as-quick-as possible recovery. You handled the situation like the Olympic champion you are. Let us know how you are doing. Your fans care about you.
Nate Mosley | on 6/10/08
Hi Misty; Sorry to hear about your achilles injury. I had also recently ruputured my achilles tendon and had surgery on 9/13 at St John`s Hospital. I saw tonight show and heard that dreadful “pop” and it sent chills and I know the pain you endured afterwards. Hang in there and I am sending you my prayers for a successful surgery and rehab. Big Fan, Nate M.

Hey Misty,
It’s been a pleasure watching you perform. It’s devastating about your injury! You’ve been doing so well! Take care, and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Angela | on 6/10/08
I enjoy DWTS, but my main reason for this season was to watch you. You are very deserving of the wonderful and elusive mirror ball trophy. I’ll create a bigger and better one for you. I hope you have a fast and speedy recovery. Perhaps they’ll let you participate in next season, one can hope!
Angel | on 6/10/08
Did ya’ really tear your achilles?? I played vb in college and play(ed) on a women’s team. A friend of mine talked me into playing basketball in a league, I got there late for the 2nd game and didn’t warm up and ended up tearing my achilles just by taking a step after the ball. Anyways, it isn’t that bad, I started running again 4 months post op and went back to teaching at the gym then too. Since Dr. Doom said I would be out for a year, we decided to add baby #4 to the family and now I am 5 months pregnant (7 months post op now), still teaching and running and started playing a little v’ball about a month ago. It’s not that bad, and I know as soon as I pop this kid out I will be back full speed. Can’t wait!! It doesn’t hurt that bad either, just a day or so after surgery was the worst. I started riding the bike and taking pilates a little while after I got my cast off. Hang in there and enjoy the time off, you’ll be back in no time.
julie norris | on 6/10/08
As a mother of a volleyball player, my heart goes out to you, for the loss of the experience and any affect it would have on your future achievements. It was great to hear the resolve in your voice and the confidence of knowing you could come back from this. My daughter recovered from a knee injury and went into teaching and coaching. Just over 3 weeks aog she gave me another grandson and found a new love in her life. I pray the best for your surgery and this just may be God’s way of starting a new chapter in your life (I remember your post-olympic-gold interview)
Florence | on 6/10/08
Enjoy watching you play beach volleyball and enjoy your dancing just as much.
I am rooting for you and putting in a lot of votes for you. Go for it.
Alysia | on 6/10/08
Darn it!!! This sucks the BIG one Misty :( I am sooo sorry to hear of your misfortune. These types of things ALWAYS seem to happen to the best of us. Speaking from personal experience, tearing my ACL while playing University vball, I can relate. When you want something soo bad and get it, than sustain an injury….it SUCKS!! :( I dont even know what to say….:( At a loss for words :(
I do wish you a speedy recovery and you are in my thoughts, Ya still #1 in my books and I wish you a pain free recovery too. Keep your head up girl and you’ll be back to your strong self soon enough. You’re a FIGHTER girl :)
Your Toronto based fan ;)
BIG hugs!!!!

Hi, new (and already big) fan of yours since Beijing. I heard you were recently injured and can’t finish on DWTS??? Is this true????? If so, I am sorry to hear that and hope you’ll feel better soon! Please keep us up to date though!
I wondered, also, can you tell us if there are any DVDs available anywhere to see any of yours and Kerri’s games, whether it be from Beijing or elsewhere? I do need to catch up, of course.
And back to DWTS...I gotta know…what do you think of CLORIS???? Get to talk to her any?
Lora | on 6/10/08
Misty! You are awesome! Your dances so far have been great….keep it up this week… I am a HUGE volleyball fan so I was excited to see that you would be on the show. My votes go to you!!! Good luck!
Daniel Yount | on 5/10/08
Heard you had injured your ankle Friday , hope you get well soon.
Also, Heard that Matt had been dealing with a hip injury which the article said turned out the surgery went well Wednesday and he is recovering fine, and will be recovering after a few months and will be ready next Spring. Maybe a mixed blessing , that will be up to you.
Aysia | on 5/10/08
OMG....Misty, I heard of your injury and am SUPER sorry to hear this upsetting news :(. I hope you are feeling better and be sure to rest. Now some articles are saying its a fracture and others are saying a sprain. Sometimes sprains are worse than breaks…either way I hope its nothing serious and you can get back on the dance floor.
Either way girl, know that your Mayniacs are proud of you and you are a STAR in our books.
Wish you a speedy recovery and hope to see you back on the show.
My heart goes out to you girl…Keep your head up :)
Shelly | on 4/10/08
Misty,
I just heard that you were injured and may not be able to continue on DWTS. I hope that is nothing serious and that you’ll be able to keep competing! You are the reason that I watch! You are by far my favorite and you have received all my votes this season! You have such a positive attitude. I’ll be praying for you. Misty May all the way!

Hey hun.. dont give up. My heart almost broke in a million pieces when you said you were frustratred and wanted to cry. You are doing soooo great. Dont give up because we want to see more of you and Maks on the dance floor.
Enjoy yourself and you’ll do just fine. Like everyone else is saying, my 13 online votes are yours :-)
Good luck
Jocelyn | on 3/10/08
Good Luck, Misty and Maks! All my votes go to you!
Carla | on 2/10/08
You go girl! I am using all my votes on you (and a few for Warren). You are doing great. Just relax and enjoy the dance. Make sure your shoulders are warm and hopefully that will help you extend the arms more fluidly. If Maks paso doble was as difficult as the judges said, then you deserved higher scores. A visit with your hubby may also help you relax. Wink Wink!
Daniel Yount | on 2/10/08
You are doing great.Looks like you are taking it all on just fine. A plus to see family should boost your moral, even more so. You get all my votes, no doubt about it.
Susan Yu | on 2/10/08
MISTY!! i cant wait to see you and Maks perform next week!!!
Monica | on 2/10/08
Yea! You got the jive! Can’t wait to see you dance. I loved your Paso, great energy. I don’t why the judges keep giving you a 21, at least it’s not going down. The jive is a fun dance and I know you can conquer it. Don’t forget to have a blast out there.
Wendy | on 2/10/08
Hey Misty!!! I thought you were great with the foxtrot, the mambo, and the Paso Doble! Keep up the great work and I will definetly be using all of my votes on you!!! Good luck!! Your fan from Toronto, Canada!!! See you on television on Monday!!!
Allison | on 2/10/08
